I read a post on playdatesonfridays.com this morning. It was titled To My Daughter, at Halfime. I didn't realize this until I read it but Kainen is at his halfway mark! He turned 9 and in nine more he'll be 18! Where has the time gone?! So much has happened in his nine years but has enough happened? I hope that in the next nine I can fit in more time with him, more conversation, more love and more fun. It's easy to let him do things on his own without much assistance from me while I go take care of his younger siblings. The first half is critical but the second, I think, is even more. They're slowly growing into an adult and becoming more independent. I know I'll be his parent for a lifetime and beyond but I also know that he we'll become a man and have a job and build a relationship and have a family of his own where he'll start worrying about these things too. It's scary AND exciting. Time for those one-on-one dates I've been wanting to do with the kids.

Kainen's birthday was on January 28th. We had gotten together with the family earlier in the month so we could celebrate my birthday as well as my dad's and Kainen's. I decided to treat him and a few of his cousins to a movie and a sleep over last weekend. They saw Paddington (don't mind my horrible cell phone pictures) Left to right: Cole, Kainen, Bella and Ella

I sure understand about the quality time you have to somehow share with each when there are multiple siblings. Mini-single dates are a great idea. You are a good Mom...I know you will figure it out!XO
